Flores De Maria Santacruzan 2011 Facts and Figures

Ano ang Santacruzan?

Ang Santacruzan ay isang prusisyon na isinasagawa sa huling bahagi ng pagdiriwang ng Flores de Mayo/ Flores de Maria. Isinasalarawan nito ang paghahanap sa Banal na Krus ni Reyna Elena, ang ina ni Constantino. May ilang personalidad sa industriya ng pelikula at telebisyon ang lumalahok sa ganitong pagdiriwang at kadalasan ay nagiging tampok sa sagala bilang reyna at konsorte.

Ang pagdiriwang ay dinala sa Pilipinas ng mga Espanyol at mula noon ay naging bahagi na ng tradisyon ng mga Pilipino.

Kasaysayan ng Santacruzan

Ilang daan taon na ang nakalilipas, ang emperador ng Roma, si Constantino, ay dinalaw ng isang panaginip na siya ay hinihingan ng tulong na pumunta sa isang digmaan upang lumaban sa ngalan ng Banal na Krus. Nasupil niya ang kanyang kalaban at ang kanyang tagumpay ay naging sanhi nang kanyang pagiging kristiyano. Siya ang naging unang Kristiyanong emperador sa kasaysayan. Dahil sa lahat ng mga pangyayari, nagkaroon ng inspirasyon ang kanyang ina, si Reyna Elena, at noong taong 326 A.D., nagsagawa siya ng isang paglalakbay sa Banal na Lugar upang hanapin ang Banal na Krus.

Matagumpay na nahanap ni Reyna Elena ang Banal na Krus at sa kanyang pagbabalik ay nagkarooon ng isang masayang pagdiriwang.
